A 12 de novembro de 2020, faleceu Chuck Eastman (Charles M. Eastman), um dos pais do BIM. 

Americano, com formação em Arquitetura obtida na Universidade da Califórnia (UC Berkeley College of Environmental Design), foi um pioneiro, a partir de meados dos anos 70, do desenho assistido por computador (CAD).

Fundador da Association for Computer-Aided Design in Architecture (ACADIA), estudou o desenvolvimento de ferramentas informáticas ligadas ao projeto de edifícios, inicialmente designadas de “Building Description System (BDS)” e mais tarde rebatizadas “Building Information  Modeling (BIM)”.

Chuck Eastman foi um dos autores do livro BIM Handbook  -  A Guide to Building lnformation Modeling for Owners, Managers, Designers, Engineers, and Contractors (2008), considerado internacionalmente como uma das obras fundamentais sobre o tema.
